History
ESTABLISHMENT
In 1737, Bong is founded in the university city of Lund, Sweden, by Carl Fredrik Bong. Bong starts its business with binding books. In the following decades, Bong develops into a well-known bookbinder, moving to Kristianstad in 1808.
GROWTH
In 1920, the first envelope machine is installed, developing Bong into an envelope producer. With this business expansion, Bong lays the foundation for continued growth in the following decades. In 1988, being the market leader in Scandinavia, Bong is introduced on the OTC stock list, later to become OMX, with an expansion in the Nordic market.
AQUISITIONS
In 1997, Bong acquires AB Sture Ljungdahl, the largest envelope production company in the Nordics. Two great family companies become one. The next major acquisition follows in the year 2000: By taking over the Wolf-Bauwen Group, the company becomes twice as big and thereby the largest envelope producer in Europe. In 2010, Bong merges with Hamelin and doubles in size.
LIGHT PACKAGING
In 2020, Bong intensifies the strategic focus on light packaging triggered by increasing digitalization. A wide range of light packaging solutions covers the growing demand of industry and ecommerce.
ONLINE SHOP
Bong launches an online shop for light packaging solutions in 2023, which enables the company to become more independent from other digital marketplaces.
FUTURE
Bong will continue its transition into a light packaging specialist, focusing on paper-based solutions.
Sustainability
Sustainability is one of our top priorities. At Bong, we do our utmost to develop packaging products which are made from renewable resources or recycled material, and which are recyclable or reusable.
